HUNAN — China can help Malaysia achieve its affordable housing goals by helping to transfer technology and train technical personnel.
Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said this during her recent visit to Sany Group (Sany) China and its factory in Changsha, Hunan province recently.
The minister was accompanied by LBS Bina Group (LBS) Bhd managing director Tan Sri Lim Hock San.
During the visit, the minister expressed her admiration at the size and scale of Sany as well as their advanced technology.
She said this is the basic requirement for Malaysia to achieve developed country status.
She hoped that Sany would be able to transfer their technology to local Malaysian companies such as LBS as well as train local Industrialised Building System (IBS) technical personnel.
She said this would help Malaysia achieve its goal of building one million affordable housing units in 10 years. This is equivalent to 100,000 units a year, and it would require the support of advanced technology.
Lim said it is evident that the relationship between China and Malaysia is striding towards a new milestone following Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s visit to the country and expression of support for the One Belt One Road initiative.
With the technological advancement of China, the transfer of technology from it will assist various sectors in Malaysia in advancing towards modernisation.
LBS, in cooperating with Sany, hopes to utilise the best technology to develop LBS’s projects for their customers to own a safe and comfortable home.
Lim also said that he was extremely satisfied with the cooperation between both parties and hoped this relationship can progress further in the future.
Sany Heavy Industry Corpora-tion president Tang Xiuguo said the group has the utmost confidence in Malaysia and believes investing here is a wise move.
With Malaysia’s stable political environment and the close relationship between China and Malaysia, the group hopes to cooperate with local companies for the mutual development of both parties.
He also said Sany’s mission is to empower the construction industry, and that intelligent manufacturing and IBS are the future development trend of this industry.
Tang also gave the assurance that Sany will provide the relevant IBS training and technology transfer to help achieve Malaysia’s goal of one million affordable housing units.
In 2017, a joint venture was established between LBS and Sany. Today, the IBS factory of both companies can produce up to 4,000 units of properties annually.
There is also the possibility of the continued construction of IBS factories and provision of IBS components to other affordable housing projects in Malaysia.
