Kuala Lumpur — Lazada Group will begin selling houses on its online shopping platform soon and is planning its next shopping festival, 12.12, to boost sales.
As it is, Lazada offers hundreds of different types of products on its platform and will add one of the biggest items in the form of houses to its list.
The company is working with property developer Mah Sing Group Bhd to sell houses at a specific location.
Lazada Malaysia chief executive officer Christophe Lejeune said more details on the houses for sale would be announced today.
To grow the variety of items on its platform, Lejeune said Lazada wanted to add more brands and products.
Lejeune also plans to increase the number of Malaysian sellers from the current 50,000 to hundreds more.
The group is also targeting to support eight million small and medium entrepreneurs in South-East Asia from the current 400,000 by 2030.
By doing so, it is creating hundreds of jobs not just within the company but the entire ecosystem comprising sellers, logistics and the supporting industries.
“We want to help push sales and grow business for the sellers,” he said.
Apart from Malaysia, Lazada has presence in five other countries – Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore and the Philippines.
The 12.12 shopping festival planned follows the 9.9 extravaganza and the Single’s Day 11.11 which saw transactions peaking to all-time high.
For the 12.12 event, Lazada plans to add more gifts, brands and discounts.
